This is the part most people overestimate. Today's fast, efficient AI models are surprisingly cheap to run. For example, Anthropic's published pricing for its Claude Haiku 5.5 model is $0.10 per million input tokens and $0.50 per million output tokens for shorter prompts. A typical website conversation is a few short messages, so the AI cost per chat is usually a fraction of a cent.
Translation: if someone quotes you a huge monthly fee “because AI is expensive,” ask what you're really paying for.
